About Blackwave
Blackwave builds the first purpose-built Storage and Delivery system for Internet video. The Blackwave 8100 Family of Systems delivers 10 times the performance of other systems while decreasing administrative complexity, floor space, and power requirements. Specifically built for video, the Blackwave system eliminates the complex overlays required when servers are retooled for serving video. Our Grid-based content-intelligent software - the Blackwave System - allows us to deliver four key points of value to our customers:
- Lower CapEx. A single Blackwave appliance can drive 40-50Gb/s throughput, outperforming “white box” solutions by a factor of ten.
- Lower OpEx. When the demand for Internet video can be met with only one-tenth the rack footprint, the power, floor space, and personnel costs of infrastructure management drop radically.
- Scalability. The Blackwave 8100 Systems scale from 20Gb/s to Tb/s of performance and to PBs of storage, all within a single namespace.
- Intelligence. Blackwave Systems manage performance at the title level, as opposed to traditional systems, which manage at the volume or storage level. This raises the Quality of Service while lowering the infrastructure cost per title delivered.
For companies facing a rising wave of demand for high-quality Internet video, the challenge is to keep each stream in the black. Blackwave has developed the market-leading Internet Storage and Delivery system to make Internet video distribution more profitable for Content Delivery Networks, Global Media Networks, Media and Entertainment Companies, Social Networks, and aggregators of User Generated Content.
Blackwave is backed by Sigma Partners, Flybridge Capital, and Globespan Capital Partners and headquartered in Acton, Massachusetts.
